10 Common Objections in Network Marketing and How to Handle Them

10 Common Objections In Network Marketing

and How you can Handle them successfully.

9/16/2013 - One of the main things new people in Network Marketing fear the most is not having the answers to questions or objections that a prospect may have. This can be a huge problem if your job is to sponsor new people into your business. 95% of Net workers will fail in Network Marketing because of this fear. I'm sure you can see why... talking to people is a fundamental element in joining any network marketing program. If you are scared to pick up the phone because someone may ask a question, or raise an objection you will never have anyone join your business!

The first step to conquering this fear is to realize that objections are a persons way of testing you. They are also being presented so that your prospect can learn what to say to others if they join you. This is really on the job training for them and you need to look at it that way. The main reason anyone will join you in a network marketing business is because of YOU. It's not your product, your comp plan, your location or anything else. There are millions of really great programs out there, but the reason someone will join your program is because you were able to answer their questions and/or objections satisfactorily! Top Earners in the Network Marketing Industry know these secrets.

Below are the top 10 Objections New Network Marketer's are scared to answer. I have run into these over and over in the last 10 years I've been in Network Marketing. Here is how you can answer them successfully.

    1. How much money are you making?  This is something that people who have just joined a new opportunity are worried about because if you just started, you don't have an income story to share. If you're new be honest, tell them so... also tell them that you work with a team of people and you would be happy to introduce them on a 3 way call with your upline to hear their income story. 3rd party validation is imperative when you are first starting out.
    2. How much is this going to cost me?This is a question that needs to be qualified. If you are speaking with someone who has not been through your presentation website then tell them this is not about spending money, it's about making money. then proceed to give them the information about  how to learn more about your business. If you are working with a pre qualified prospect you will want to let them know that they will be working with you to develop a business plan that fits within their time constraints and budget. This is a business after all.
    3. How long have you been doing this? Again, this is a question that new network marketers are scared to answer because they think that if they are too new, no one will join them. Having a strong upline that can help with 3 way calls is helpful, but what if  no one is available? Best response - Answer honestly. It shouldn't diminish the opportunity. Tell them you will be introducing them to business partners who have been doing this considerably longer than you have.
    4. How much will I make? This is a great question! Again, you'll want to be honest with them and let them know the truth. This is an opportunity and ultimately it is up to the person who joins to answer that question for themselves. You have no idea if they will make a dime! It will be up to the individuals actions that determines how much they will make. All business involves some risk. You do not have control over the prospects actions. Only they do.
    5. Can you guarantee me that I'll make money? Nope! But if your prospect is still doing what they have for the past 3yrs, it's likely they will be stuck in the same position they are today. Ask them if that is where they really want to be?
    6. I don't know if I'll have the time.  This statement is just an excuse. We all have 24hrs in the day. If your prospect really has a desire to build a business and change their lifestyle, they will make the time. Tell them so! Let them know you will work with them and help them learn some time management skills. In fact, most programs can be built by just carving out 1 hr a day.
    7. I'm not sure if my wife/husband will let me do this.  Ummm. Did your husband or wife give you permission to stay in that dead end job that's barely keeping you afloat? Or, did they give you permission to be unemployed? Granted, your prospect may have a legitimate need to share this with their partner, but ultimately, it is their decision to be made. Get them to make a commitment first and offer to speak with the spouse too.
    8. I'm not sure I can afford it... If this objection comes before the prospect has viewed your opportunity, tell them it doesn't cost anything to get more information. If it comes later after you have found out their "why" you might say something like "John, with what you've told me, I don't think you can afford not to!"
    9. My friend said these never work... This one really cracks me up. People love to follow a friends advice, even if that friend is working at the local pizza parlor! Just ask them, how much money does your friend make? 9 times out of 10 it won't be much. If it is, your response should be they must be self employed and aren't working a job making someone else rich, right? The point is... they shouldn't be taking advice from their broke friends.
    10. What will I have to do? This question is often asked as a way to find out if they have to sell something. Many people have a fear of selling. I worked as a Sales Manager for many years in retail. I worked with people who didn't know the first thing about selling. Selling is just sharing information with others and it really is an easy thing to do. The main thing you want to let your prospect know is that Network Marketing is about building relationships with people. It's about building a team of like minded individuals that are working towards the same goal. Let your prospect know that you have a great team and you will be working with them directly to help them reach their goals. This will usually put to rest any fears they may have.
In 10 years of working from home, I have learned that Network Marketing can be one of the most rewarding business skill sets a person can learn. The concept can be applied to many types of business models but one thing is for certain. If you enjoy working in a team atmosphere, building your own business, coaching and helping others attain their goals, and earning an incredible income Network Marketing is something you will love to do!

With how the world and online industry has changed over the last 10 years, I am always on the lookout for what is up and coming. More and more people are using Social Networking and Referral Websites like Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, and LinkedIn to stay in touch and network with others. More people are also using Smart Phones and Mobile Apps to build their business. This is the new wave of Network Marketing.
